Jo enjoyed camping trips with the family when her children were young; she was always an avid reader, and in later years, enjoyed playing cards and BINGO with friends. Her family remembers her as a doting mother who was never shy about expressing her opinions. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa.
Her family includes her children: Deb Rainer of Denver CO and Randall Rainer of University Park IA; her grandchildren: Jessica Rainer of Des Moines IA and Michael Rainer of Mason City IA; great-grandchildren, William and Riley; and a sister, Jean Chaney of Kirksville MO.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Don, Jo was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Barnhart and Geraldine Marlin, and a brother, Cloyd McCarty.
