Bill Benson, Jr., 1940-2022, son of Bill Benson, Sr., and Sally Stevenson Benson of Falls Church, Virginia. Survivors are son Michael, grandsons Hunter and Garrett, brother Lance (Judy Parsons), 7 of 24 first cousins, and his first wife and mother of Michael, Nancy Benson, and second (former) wife, Cheryl Benson.

Bill was passionate in his interests: hunting deer and pheasants, shooting sporting clays, wine, teaching hunter education, conservation of pheasant habitat with Pheasants Forever, sports, and military history. He cooked a mean pheasant breast and venison tenderloin (rare).

Basketball player, veteran, outdoorsman, union activist, conservationist, hunter, Youth Hunter Education instructor (and instructor of instructors), raconteur, he was a big man of strong opinions readily expressed, with a big laugh when you tickled his funny bone. Was known to have said, "People either love me or they hate me, and I don't much care which it is". His friends were loyal, and he was loyal to them. His passing leaves an unfillable void.
