William Wade Collison (Wade) Obituary

Prescott, AZ - William Wade Collison was called back home to his creator on August 18th, 2025, at the age of 73. Wade was born on November 9th, 1951 in Oskaloosa, IA to Robert and Margaret (Davis) Collison.

Inspired by his father's practice and a love of helping others, Wade found a calling in medicine from a young age. He studied at Creighton University and School of Medicine from 1969-1977. He attended General Surgical Residency at the University of Arizona from 1977-1982, where he fell in love with Prescott on a weekend trip during Frontier Days. Wade was drawn to the creative side of medicine and was accepted to Surgical Fellowship in Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery at Ohio State University from 1982-1984. It was there that he met his wife of 40 years, Lori, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, and they wed on July 14th, 1984.

Enamored with the area during his surgical residency years, Wade and Lori took a leap of faith and moved to Prescott in 1984 as the first Reconstructive and Plastic Surgeon in the history of Yavapai County. Wade ran a successful private practice, Prescott Plastic Surgery, for over 30 years, making countless friends amongst his patients and colleagues along the way. He was one of the founding members of Prescott Outpatient Surgical Center in 1985, and served as a community surgeon at Yavapai Regional Medical Center for many years. He finally retired in 2015 after a joyful and fulfilling career.

Wade left a unique impression on everybody he met; whether it be patient, family, or friend. Never too busy to stop for kindhearted conversation, he was a friendly face to people of all walks of life. He had many passions over the years, including volunteering for the Yavapai Trails Association, riding horses, running marathons, hiking, riding motorcycles, and acquiring his Private Pilot License. Wade was a loving and supportive Husband and Father, and taught his children to be hardworking, curious, and compassionate. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and teachings of his loved ones.

He is survived by Lori Collison, children Selby, Kaylee, and Drew, son-in-law Mozz, daughter-in-law Kristin, grandchildren Finn and Lily, and ten siblings: Mike, Molly, Katie, Margaret, Richard, John, Jane, Dan, Jim and Charles

A memorial mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 on Dec 19th, 2025, and a celebration of life to be followed at Hassayampa Hotel at 12:30 pm. For R.S.V.P to either event, contact Kristin Collison at kristin.collison@gmail.com
